Contracted Sydney veteran Luke Parker has spoken with North Melbourne over a potential venture to Arden Street this off-season.

Parker is under contract with the Swans until the end of next year but is said to be assessing his future in New South Wales for 2025 and beyond.

The 31-year-old has been linked with the Kangaroos in recent weeks, with Parker labelling the reported interest as 'flattering'.

"I haven't heard too much about it, but look, it's flattering that those teams kind of bring up your name and mention there's someone of interest, but I've got games to focus on and finals to focus on," Parker said last week.

"It'd be weird (to leave theย Sydney Swans), but at the moment, I'm just trying to enjoy each opportunity that I get."

Those comments come after North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson listed Parker as one of several ideal experienced players the club would be keen to bring to the club this year.

The Kangaroos are in the market for senior players who can help mentor Clarkson's young list, with Melbourne's Jack Viney and Port Adelaide's Ollie Wines both also mentioned, however the pair have turned down the chance to move to the Roos.

Now, according to The Age,ย North Melbourne has held talks with Parker over a potential move during next month's trade period.

The Kangaroos would have to trade for Parker given his contract status, with the Victorian club currently holding Picks 2, 22, 32, 42 and 48 for November's AFL Draft.

Parker, a former captain of the Swans and a three-time best and fairest winner, has played 291 games in the red and white, meaning any move this off-season would deny him the chance of becoming the fifth Sydney player to play 300 games for the club.

The veteran midfielder didn't play at AFL level until Round 19 this season due to injury, suspension and the form of John Longmire's senior side, which held the top spot for a majority of the season before clinching the minor premiership.

Parker has played in every game since returning to the team, with his next appearance set to come in a home preliminary final next weekend.
