A Victorian club is said to be ready to make a $12 million move for young Gold Coast star Mac Andrew.

Andrew is set to come off-contract in Queensland next year, having re-signed with the Suns on a two-year deal to see his services tied to the club until the end of 2025.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season this year, recording career highs in every major metric while averaging 14.3 disposals, 5.9 marks, 2.4 intercept marks and 6.0 intercept possessions per game to land a spot in the 2024 22under22 team.

The former Pick 5 draft selection played in 20 games this year, mostly as a key defender before being swung into attack late into the season, with Andrew booting seven goals across a promising two-week forward stint in Round 21 and 22.

The Melbourne Nexte Generation Academy product, who was unable to join the Demons in 2021 due to draft restrictions, is seen as one of the best up-and-coming key position players in the competition, with Andrew able to play as a defender, forward or even assist in the ruck.

With his contract at Gold Coast currently set to expire in 12 months, clubs across the country are expected to show strong levels of interest in the Dandenong Stingrays product.

According to AFL reporter Tom Morris, one unnamed Victorian side is prepared to offer Andrew an eight-year deal from 2026 worth close to $1.5 million per season.

"My understanding is that one Victorian club has told his manager, Ashley Blair from PSM, that they are prepared to offer $1.5 million per year for eight years. That's a $12 million deal," Morris told SEN on Monday.

"You look at him, Andrew Brayshaw and Chad Warner. They're the three for next year.

"I don't know who the club is, but you could probably take a guess. There's some clubs with money in Victoria."

Andrew's manager has confirmed he, his client and the Suns are in talks around a new deal beyond next year, with any extension to be the latest major retention for the AFL's second-youngest club.

"Mac will be at the Suns in 2025, we're working closely with them on a longer-term deal," Blair said, per Morris.

The Suns will also have stars Matt Rowell, Charlie Ballard and Sam Collins unsigned beyond next season, with 2025 shaping as a big year both on and off the field for the Carrara club.

All three players hail from other states, with Rowell and Collins both products of the Oakleigh Chargers, while Ballard joins the Suns out of South Australia.

Gold Coast have managed to re-sign a contingent of key future pieces to long-term deals in recent years, with reigning Club Champion Noah Anderson tied to the Suns until the end of 2027.

Sam Clohesy (2026), Jy Farrar (2025), Will Graham (2027), Lloyd Johnston (2026), Ned Moyle (2028), Wil Powell (2029), Ethan Read (2028), Bodhi Uwland (2026) and Jarrod Witts (2026) have all re-signed with the club this year alone.
