A Victorian rival club reportedly inquired about the possibility of prying unsigned Geelong stalwart Tom Hawkins from the Cattery this off-season.
Hawkins, who has played 17 AFL seasons with Geelong, still hasn't penned a new deal for 2024 despite reports surfacing in past months that one was imminent.
Melbourne has been revealed as the club that supposedly made calls about the potential for Hawkins to cease his decorated Geelong tenure in 2023.
According to a report by Herald Sunย journalist Jay Clark on Tuesday, the Demons made an '11th-hour bid' to attempt to lure 'Tomahawk' to Melbourne to play alongside promising key forward pair Jacob van Rooyen and Harrison Petty.
However, Clark added Hawkins and the Cats are expected to iron out their remaining sticking points and cement another Geelong contract for the premiership icon.
The Demons are expected to welcome Brisbane Lions ruck-forward Tom Fullarton this off-season, with the little-used utility recently requesting a trade to the Demons.
