After one of the greatest home and away wins for the black and white, Australian Hall of Famer Terry Wallace has revealed his top five Collingwood players over the last five decades.
Speaking on SEN Drive, Wallace listed his top five and gave reasons as to why they were put up there with the best at Magpie land.
5. Dane Swan
“Swanny’s body of work when you just have a look at the best and fairests, the amount of possessions within the whole competition … he did it all.”
4. Len Thompson
“He was almost like a ruck rover the way that he played the game. Len Thompson was one who really changed the ruck role.”
3. Peter Daicos
“If you’re talking about fan favourite, turnstile clicker or highlight reel, he’s No.1.”
2. Nathan Buckley
“He was such a beautiful kick of the football. He just killed teams with his ability just to nail his kicks time and time again.”
1. Scott Pendlebury
“As a leader, I thought Scotty Pendlebury had his men more absolutely locked and going with him as a leader than what Bucks did for the whole of his career."
These five players have etched themselves into Collingwood history with a total of 21 Copeland Trophy winners, two Brownlow medalists (Swan and Buckley), and many AA selections over the years.
These names will never be forgotten in regards to Collingwood, but also the AFL.
