Hawthorn is reportedly displaying interest in trading up to acquire the top selection at this year's National Draft.

The Hawks, who currently hold the No. 3 pick at November's festivities, are thought to be one of many parties keen to secure Harley Reid's services and are set to explore the option of a trade-up in order to nab him.

In addition to the third overall selection, Hawthorn presently possesses Picks 22 and 77 at this year's draft and would likely look to spend a future first-round selection in order to attempt to snare West Coast's No.1 selection.

Hawks forward Tyler Brockman recently requested a trade from Hawthorn to West Coast, with AFL Media journalist Cal Twomey believing the wantaway livewire could be part of the Waverley club's possible plan to secure this year's prized selection.

"Hawthorn are going to explore moving from Pick 3 to Pick 1. It would have to involve Pick 3, their future first-round pick and you would suggest an addition of Tyler Brockman in that too," Cal Twomey said via AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday.

"Will that be enough to shift West Coast?"

If a Hawthorn acquisition of the No. 1 selection doesn't eventuate, the Hawks will likely have their choice of tantalising prospects Zane Duursma, Nick Watson, Colby McKercher, and Ryley Sanders with their Pick 3.

The first round of the 2023 AFL Draft will take place on Monday, November 20, with the remaining rounds to take place on Tuesday, November 21.

This year's trade period is set to commence on October 9, following the opening of free agency on October 6.
