Luke Davies-Uniacke enters the 2025 season with uncertainty surrounding his future, but teammate Harry Sheezel is confident in both North Melbourne's prospects and the star midfielder's commitment to the club.
After eight years at Arden Street, Davies-Uniacke will end the 2025 season as a restricted free agent. Reports suggest that a monster deal is already on the table from North Melbourne and other clubs are also showing keen interest.
Likely to play a crucial role in the club's future, signing Davies-Uniacke will give Kangaroos fans hope of finally ending their rebuild phase. Sheezel believes North Melbourne is already on the rise and that Davies-Uniacke will put pen to paper because of it.
"Very optimistic about the year," he said.
"I think it's definitely time that we can start climbing the ladder. It's been a rough couple years, but yeah, very optimistic
"He (Luke Davies-Uniacke) loves the club and I'm not too sure how it's going to pan out in terms of the contract, but I think he's just focused on what he can do for us at the moment.
"This year, compared to others I've noticed, he's just so invested in our group from a leader's perspective and helping out us young midfielders.
"I think he just ultimately wants success and I have no doubt that if we win a few games early on he'll sign the contract and lock into the Roos."
North Melbourne's first match comes against the Western Bulldogs on March 15 as they look to start their season off with a win.
