St Kilda's Dan Hannebery and Zak Jones found time to lighten up their isolation period during the AFL's suspension with a prank on Melbourne midfielder and Zak's brother Nathan Jones.
Players league-wide have been contacting members to hold onto their memberships for the year while the 2020 season hangs in the balance, with Hannebery and Jones hoping the Melbourne veteran may join the Saints faithful.
In a cunning attempt to get Jones to sign up as a St Kilda member, the pair called in asking for him to join the Saints army to support his brother.
The prank call was aired on 7 News Melbourne, and fair to say it didn't last long...
Dan Hannebery: “Is this Nath?”
Nathan Jones: Yep.
DH: How you going, mate?
NJ: F*** off, Hanners.
DH: I know you’re an ex-captain of a football club but we need you to sign up for the Saints, help your brother out.
NJ: Not a chance!
DH: Mate, get the moths out of your wallet, put them in there and sign up for a Saints membership!
Zak was seen snickering beside Hannebery as the call was made.
“He wasn’t too happy about it,” he said.
Nathan was soon questioned by 7 News Melbourne to reflect on his side of the call.
“I was at home doing some weights in the gym and I got a call from a private number,” he said.
“They didn’t fool me. I picked it up straight away.
“It was a good laugh.”
