GWS coach Adam Kingsley has lamented his side's fourth-quarter performance during Saturday's qualifying final loss to Sydney, with the Giants losing the final term 13 points to 40 to fall short by a goal.

The defeat sees the Swans progress to a home preliminary final, while the Giants are now forced to take the longer route, starting with a semi-final at Engie Stadium next weekend.

Kingsley's men held a 28-point lead in the game and a 21-point advantage heading into the final term of Saturday's game at the SCG, with the heroics of Isaac Heeney, Tom Papley, Jake Lloyd and Chad Warner leading the charge in the last quarter to snatch a famous win for the Bloods.

The Giants were dismantled in the fourth stanza after a convincing opening three quarters, with Kingsley going as far as to say his players didn't show up in the fourth term.

"We didn't play the last quarter," a blunt Kingsley said post-game.

"Just like we didn't play the first quarter against Brisbane a few weeks ago, or the first quarter against Melbourne or the first quarter against Carlton.

"We only played three quarters. We played a very, very good three quarters, but it wasn't good enough.

"We had some experienced guys make some errors and we had some young guys make some errors. That happens. We need to learn from it, move on and get ready for a big game next weekend against Carlton or Brisbane.

"What the first three quarters proved is that we're capable of beating any team. And like I've said in the past... we're capable of losing to any team."

On top of a home final, the Giants will be buoyed by the likely return of Toby Bedford from a calf issue that has plagued him in recent weeks.

Bedford was "touch and go" to face the Swans but fell short, with a crucial training session on Saturday morning strengthening his recovery process in a bid to be ready for next week.

"I'd expect him to be back next week," Kingsley said.

"He was really close (to playing), it was touch and go. We got through main training last week, he trained for the most part and got through a big session this morning.

"He looks fine, so I'd expect to have him (next week)."

The Giants will face the winner Brisbane on Saturday in a home semi-final.
