West Coast will be without defender Tom Barrass for this weekend's trip to Tasmania to face North Melbourne.
Barrass missed his side's Round 21 win over Gold Coast due to concussion and was dealing with a hamstring concern in the lead-up to the club's upcoming meeting with the Kangaroos.
The premiership Eagle was given Wednesday's session to prove his fitness but was unable to convince medical staff, with caretaker coach Jarrad Schofield confirming a line had been put through his key defender's playing prospects.
Barrass' prolonged absence will come as the Eagles also prepare to be without fellow backman Harry Edwards, who has entered concussion protocols.
Defensive options Josh Rotham (abdominal) and Callum Jamieson (ankle/knee) also aren't available due to injury.
Third-year defender Rhett Bazzo is a strong chance to come into Schofield's side as the fourth-string key defender, while duo Jack Petruccelle and Jack Hutchinson will be available after serving one-game suspensions.
Midfielder Luke Edwards won't play this week as he continues through concussion protocols, meaning Round 21 debutant and tactical sub Clay Hall could hold his spot and potentially start in Schofield's side to play the Roos.
The Eagles are likely to have Barrass and Edwards back for the club's final home game of the season against Carlton next week, while retiring midfielder Andrew Gaff will also come into the side to play the final two matches of 2024.
West Coast could still fall to last place before the season ends but would likely need to lose remaining matches against North Melbourne, Carlton and Geelong while Richmond claim wins in two of their final three games at least.
The Eagles head to Tasmania to face the Kangaroos at Blundstone Arena on Saturday at 1:45pm (AEST).
