West Coast forward Jack Williams has reportedly been taken to hospital after suffering an injury at training on Tuesday, with fears the young Eagle has a punctured lung, per reports from 7 News' Ryan Daniels.

The 19-year-old was drafted by the Eagles in 2021 with pick no.57, making his debut, and only senior appearance, in Round 2 last season.

After dealing with injury carnage in the 2022 season, Williams' potential pre-season setback is a blow for the young Eagles now facing injury concerns with just over a month before the season begins.

Jack Darling has been sent for scans after suffering an ankle injury during match simulation last week, though looks to have avoided any serious injury.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, senior coach Adam Simpson said that Darling may be fit for Round 1.

“Jack will be touch and go for round one. No surgery. Looks like we have dodged a bullet," Simpson said.

“The bruising we got from last year, we had our fair share. We were worried for a while. He is a hard player to replace. Hopefully round one he is there.”

West Coast is yet to confirm the extent of the injury to Williams, though reports suggest the Eagle required the assistance of a wheelchair.

The Eagles will begin their season on Saturday, March 18, against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium.
