West Coast have decided against offering recently delisted defender Coby Burgiel a career lifeline at the club via the current Supplemental Selection Period.

Burgiel, who was not offered an extension to his contract at the end of the 2024 season, was invited back to Lathlain Park for pre-season with a list spot still up for grabs.

The offer came after an injury-hit two years on the Eagles' list for Burgiel, who tallied just 15 WAFL games in his time in the blue and gold.

After weeks of training this summer, Burgiel's train-on stint with the Eagles has come to an end, with fellow SSP hopeful Sandy Brock to continue his stint under new coach Andrew McQualter.

Burgiel's exit from the club's program will allow West Coast to add another SSP train-on prospect to its squad before the February 21 deadline.

Brock will continue training with the Eagles in the new year as he too eyes a second chance at AFL level.

The 198cm key defender was cut from Gold Coast this year and has since returned to Western Australia after receiving interest from the Eagles.

Brock has 59 games of VFL experience to his name - including a role in the Suns' 2023 premiership side - and also played 10 WAFL games for Peel Thunder before being recruited by Gold Coast.

The Eagles will now consider Brock as a list addition and could add another train-on talent, while clubs have the option to leave list spots vacant for the 2025 Mid-Season Draft.
