The West Coast Eagles have reportedly offered young star Harley Reid multiple deals to re-sign at the club - one of which would be the largest contract money-wise in Eagles history.
Contract rumours have swirled around Reid ever since he was drafted out of his home state in Victoria across the country to Western Australia, where the 19-year-old enters his second season.
A frustrating start to 2025 has only fuelled these rumours further as the 2023 No. 1 pick faces a decision as to whether he sticks at the Eagles beyond his initial three-year deal or if he seeks a move back to Victoria, where clubs are willing to cough up a huge contract to gain Reid's talents, or even negotiate a trade that could see the midfielder make a move as soon as this year.
Reid's current contract ends in 2026, meaning if a club were to pry the Tongala teenager from Perth in 2025, a trade would be required to get the deal done.
According to AFL.com.au's Callum Twomey, the Eagles have tabled numerous extensions to Reid, including a three-year deal and a five-year deal.
The latter would be the most lucrative contract ever signed in West Coast history, in what is a significant move from the Eagles to demonstrate they value Reid's talents, despite his strugglesome start to the season.
A longer option would extend Reid's contract to be one of the AFL's largest ever, and take Reid beyond his year of free agency eligibility.
The deals are reportedly worth $1.6-$1.8 million per season, while a deal even longer than five years would be worth close to $2 million. Despite just 24 games of experience at AFL level, the Eagles are reportedly open to such a lengthy deal.
Reid and the Eagles have begun the 2025 AFL season winless, but have a prime opportunity to open their account against the also winless Blues at Gather Round on Saturday.
