Contracted West Coast forward Jack Darling has lodged a trade request to join North Melbourne on a multi-year contract.
Darling has been tied to a potential Arden Street switch in recent weeks, with the Kangaroos keen to bring experienced talent to the club while Darling has explored opportunities to extend his career.
While having a deal with West Coast until the end of next season, North Melbourne have come to the table with a two-year deal and can likely offer Darling a larger playing role under Alastair Clarkson compared to what might be available at the Eagles next year.
The 532-goal veteran has officially informed West Coast of his desire to be traded to North Melbourne.
"The West Coast Eagles confirm that premiership forward Jack Darling has formally requested a trade to North Melbourne," a club statement reads.
"The club will now work with North Melbourne towards facilitating that request during next month's Trade Period."
Darling's request follows that of defender Tom Barrass' plea to join Hawthorn this trade period.
North Melbourne also holds Picks 2, 22, 40, 58 and 64 for this year's AFL Draft.
The addition of Darling would see the premiership Eagle become North Melbourne's most experienced player, bringing 298 games to the club, as well as an All-Australian selection and four club-leading goalkicker awards.
Darling booted 22 goals from 21 games for the Eagles in 2024, a goals tally that placed him third at West Coast for the year and would've been good enough for fourth overall in Alastair Clarkson's squad.
Spearhead Nick Larkey led from the front again to kick 46 goals for the Roos this year, with Cameron Zurhaar the only other North Melbourne player to kick at least 40 majors for the season.
The 2024 AFL Trade Period will commence on Monday, October 7 and will run until Wednesday, October 16.
