After being told to explore options at other clubs at the end of the 2024 season, Carlton fan favourite Matthew Kennedy has garnered some interest from the Western Bulldogs, according to Tom Morris on AFL trade radio.

Much to the shock of Blues fans, the contracted Kennedy was told to look elsewhere before deciding that he would remain at Carlton at least until his contract expired at the end of 2025.

Kennedy moved to Carlton in 2018 after spending the first two years of his career at the Giants andย played all 24 games for the Blues in 2024, averaging over 17 disposals per game.

At 27 years old Kennedy still has plenty of years of good footy ahead of him and may be a good fit for an ageing Bulldogs midfield that includes 32-year-old Tom Liberatore, 31-year-old Adam Treloar and an out of favour Jack Macrae who has requested a trade to St Kilda.

The Bulldogs have also expressed interest in young Giant Xavier O'Halloran according to Tom Morris on AFL trade radio.ย

O'Halloran is contracted until the end of the 2025 season, however, Morris has reported that the Dogs have tabled a three-year deal for the midfielder.

It would take a pick in this year's draft for the Dogs to entice the Giants as they are looking to cover the loss of James Peatling who is set to head to the Crows in a separate trade.

O'Halloran averaged just over 11 disposals a game in 19 games for the Giants in 2024.
