Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli is on "watch" to feature in Saturday's game against Fremantle.

Bontempelli reportedly missed both trainings (Monday and Wednesday) during the week due to illness and was "forced to train away from teammates", according to Channel 7's Mitch Cleary.

The 28-year-old hasn't missed a contest in 51 games, stretching back to Round 8, 2022 but is likely to pull on the boots against the Dockers.

The Bulldogs will make at least one change, with key defender Alex Keath injuring his hamstring while Rory Lobb is also a test after tweaking his ankle against the Lions last week.

Midfielder Ed Richards is set to rejoin the senior side after exiting concussion protocols as crafty small forward Cody Weightman could return earlier than first thought.
