Following Richmond's lackluster performance against the Crows on Saturday, suggestions surrounding superstar Dustin Martin's future appear to be at an all-time high.

Speaking on 7News yesterday, reporter Tom Browne declared that the three-time Norm Smith medallist had been visiting family in Sydney over the past month.

He also claimed that Martin is set to travel to New Zealand "to attend to his dad's personal business," delaying his return even more.

Revealing very little about the scenario, ex-Richmond captain and good friend Trent Cotchin also told Browne that the two have spoken via text but only to check if Martin is "chugging along ok."

As a result of his extended stay in Sydney, Swans and Giants fans may well become hopeful of a potential move up north.

When asked about a potential move for 'Dusty' to an NSW-based club, Cotchin said that Martin is a "very loyal person so (he'd) be shocked to see that scenario."

Meanwhile, The Herald Sun reported that the Brownlow Medallist is considering rejoining the club as early as Thursday.

They also claimed that Martin was at one point considering retirement but now has made his mind up on returning to Punt Road.

Along the same lines, AFL reporter Caroline Wilson spoke on Channel Nine's Footy Classified saying: โ€œItโ€™s as strong as Iโ€™ve heard that thereโ€™s a very good chance heโ€™ll be back training over the next week. I canโ€™t confirm it, but thatโ€™s what I believe is a strong chance.โ€

With little talk from the club about the midfielder's future, senior Tigers advisor Neil Balme affirmed that Martin will return to the club claiming it is a matter of "when" not "whether" he will return.

Having fallen to a 2-3 record with a tough game against the reigning Premiers and undefeated Demons this week, the Tigers are in desperate need of some 'Dusty' magic.
