Tigers legend Matthew Richardson has ranked his top seven AFL young guns on Sportsday.

The league is current littered with elite young talent, as seen in last year's 22under22 team.

Richardson graded 'young' players as those aged 22 years old or younger and based it off if he was building a team.

1. Oscar Allen (West Coast)

Richardson ranked Allen as the best young player in the game - prioritising a key position forward.

Allen was recently dubbed the best young key position player in the game by Gerard Healy and is coming off a career-high four-goal performance against Gold Coast in Round 1.

Richo said: โ€œIโ€™m going to be bold โ€ฆ Iโ€™m always going to go with the tall so Iโ€™m going with Oscar Allen. Tall guys take longer and if heโ€™s already doing this."
