It's once again the time of year in which we pin our hopes for happiness on some kids with potential.

As the draft is likely to yield far more questions that answers for the standard footy fan, we here at Zero Hanger have attempted to alleviate some of the ambiguity for you.

Here is a comprehensive list of future stars we feel each club should - if available - be taking with their first pick in the draft

North Melbourne (Pick 2)

Logan McDonald

With the second pick in the draft, North Melbourne have been offered a โ€˜no-brainer' โ€“ select the tall forward that Adelaide passes on with the first pick.

With the Crows likely to select local young gun Riley Thilthorpe with pick 1, that leaves the much-vaunted Logan McDonald heading to Arden Street.

The 192 centimetre forward had a standout year for Perth in the WAFL with 21 majors โ€“ the second most in the competition.

Having finished third in the WA combine's 2 kilometre time trial, it is safe to suggest that McDonald isn't just adept at high marking and straight kicking, but also endurance running.

It is this capacity to run all day that allows for McDonald to stay involved in the game by working up and down the ground

With former forward target Ben Brown now a Demon, North's list manager Glenn Luff would be mad not to pull the trigger on this supposedly generational talent.

Although there have been hints and murmurs that the Roos may trade pick 2 on draft night, their fans will be haunted when McDonald hits his straps elsewhere.
