It's once again the time of year in which we pin our hopes for happiness on some kids with potential.
As the draft is likely to yield far more questions that answers for the standard footy fan, we here at Zero Hanger have attempted to alleviate some of the ambiguity for you.
Here is a comprehensive list of future stars we feel each club should - if available - be taking with their first pick in the draft
St. Kilda (Pick 21)
Heath Chapman
Should you be afforded an opportunity to quiz Brett Ratten on his selection methodology in 2020, he is likely to tell you that the first seven magnet that appeared on his whiteboard were all defenders.
In a season where the Saints rose to prominence, the performances of Callum Wilkie, Ben Paton, Nick Coffield, Jake Carlisle, Dougal Howard, Ben Long and Hunter Clark were paramount to the team's success.
Despite a starting defensive line that offers has gelled and performed in such a brief period of time together, surprisingly it is this third of the ground that will need bolstering.
Beyond the septet mentioned, St. Kilda has a dearth of tall defenders available to them, with Dylan Roberton, Darragh Joyce, Oscar Clavarino and potentially James Frawley the only depth candidates.
With this in mind, list manager James Gallagher is likely to be on the hunt for the best possible tall defender with pick 21.
Should Western Australian Heath Chapman slide late into the first round, it seems likely that Gallagher will select him.
At 193 centimetres, Chapman shone for West Perth, with his intercept marking his key attribute. With a run of 6:20 minutes over the 2 kilometre combine trial, Chapman recorded the quickest time of all of the Western Australian draftees tested this year.
With an average of 24 disposals at the Colts level this year, he also knows how to find the ball.
If his name has already been called by the time the Saints enter the draft, Gallagher may wish to select mature aged defender Tom Highmore instead.
