Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps is likely to re-sign with the club this off-season when there is more information about the future of the salary cap, as reported by The Herald Sun.

The 25-year old is eligible for free agency when he comes out of contract at the end of 2021.

Cripps is coming off a hampered 2020 season due to an ongoing shoulder injury, with the star midfielder recently undergoing surgery.

He averaged 19.6 disposals, 4.8 tackles and 5.9 clearances from his 17 games this season for the 11th-placed Blues.

Carlton have recently re-signed a number of players, including Marc Murphy, Ed Curnow, Levi Casboult, Nic Newman, Michael Gibbons, Matthew Cottrrell and Cripps' fellow co-captain Sam Docherty.

Docherty has signed until the end of 2023 and he and Cripps are reportedly determined to stay at the club in hopes of bringing finals success to long starved Carlton fans.

Blues forward Harry McKay also comes out of contact at the end of next season and like Cripps, is awaiting more clarity around the salary cap.
