Harry McKay's manager, David Trotter, has flatly assured that the star key forward will remain a Navy Blue in 2025, as rumours of a trade for Christian Petracca have surfaced.
โThere is absolutely no way Harry would consider going to Melbourne,โ Trotter said, perย SEN's Sam Edmund.
โHarry will not be going anywhere. Carlton have said it's not coming from them, and Melbourne have said its not coming from them. Harry is an absolute no. 100 per cent.โ
It comes as rumours of McKay being used to facilitate a trade for potential-wantaway Demon Christian Petracca arose in recent days.
Journalist Sam McClure told 3AW that Carlton is best placed to make a play for Petracca, coming at the cost of either McKay or Charlie Curnow.
"The dogged Demons' list management team will rebuff almost any advance, barring - I can report to you tonight - a play from Carlton that would involve one of those two generational forwards," McClure said.
However, Trotter of Hemisphere Management maintains that there is no substance to the rumours circling around McKay's future. Contracted until the end of 2030, McKay signed a seven-year contract extension in 2022, poised to remain a Blue for life.
Trotter joins a group of individuals to quash the rumours of a trade between the Demons and Blues, with Melbourne CEO Gary Pert, coach Simon Goodwin, and Demon legend Garry Lyon vehemently denying any trade will occur for the Demons' superstar.
"[Petracca] has been an important member of our football program since he walked through the doors in 2014 and is contracted until the end of the 2029 season. He will remain in the red and blue until at least the end of his contract and hopefully beyond," Pert said in a letter to members.
Lyon toldย SEN Breakfast that "there is not a snowflake's chance in hell" that Petracca would be at an opposition club in 2025, whilst Goodwin was equally categoric when asked about the 28-year-old's future.
"Christian will be part of this footy club for the next five years," Goodwin said.
Carlton is set to meet with McKay today to alleviate any fears he may have about his security at the club. Petracca met with his own club yesterday in an exit meeting, which reportedly only further confirmed his desire to leave the Demons.
After a shock loss to St Kilda on Sunday, Carlton sneaked into the top eight following Fremantle's defeat to Port Adelaide and prepare to face the Brisbane Lions in an elimination final next Saturday night at the Gabba. McKay will be vital for a Carlton victory, with the key forward slotting three goals, including the match-winner, at the same venue in Opening Round.
