Port Adelaide's out-of-contract vice-captain Ollie Wines is expected to stay at Port Adelaide and turn his back on rival offers to lure him home to Victoria.

It is understood that the 23-year old made a decision to re-up with the Power during the club's bye during Round 10, and as reported a couple of weeks ago by The Adelaide Advertiser, has been negotiating a new contract with Port Adelaide.

Wines would have attracted a interest of a host of Victorian clubs as he approaches the end of his current deal, but will remain loyal to his Alberton home.

“He’s a real leader off the field, he does everything right,” teammate Steven Motlop told reporters on Thursday.

“And he’s a great guy and the boys love being around him.

“And on the field, it speaks for itself - he’s a workhorse.

“He’s the kind of guy you want around the footy club.”

Wines is averaging 26.4 disposals, 4.3 tackles and 6.9 clearances per game for the Power this season.
