Essendon coach John Worsfold will be offered a two-year contract extension in the coming weeks with club powerbrokers thrilled his performance as coach so far, according to the Herald Sun.
Currently in the final year of his initial three-year contract, Worsfold has previously stated he is in no rush to sign an extension but believed he had unfinished business with the club he took over under unique circumstances.
“I’ve got some specific things I want to achieve with the Essendon Football Club and these first two years there’s probably been a different set of goals, or maybe additional goals, compared to normal,” he told the Herald Sun late last year.
After guiding Essendon to a finals position last year and recruiting a trio of potential stars in Devon Smith, Jake Stringer and Adam Saad, the club undoubtedly believes their time is now for a premiership tilt and Worsfold is the man to lead them to their 17th flag.
“I’ll work in with what the club’s vision is and as long as that’s aligned and we’re achieving the goals we want, then hopefully it’s a nice, long partnership," Worsfold added.
