Would Melbourne be tempted with a “Godfather” offer for Hogan?

Following Sam Weideman's stellar finals performance against Geelong, attention on Fox Footy's On The Couch turned to whether or not the Demons should be open to trading star forward, Jesse Hogan.

Johnathon Brown was the loudest in the criticism of this concept, stating that “It would be complete madness if they let Jesse Hogan go.”

"I reckon he’s a star of the competition," Brown went on to say.

However, Talking Footy panelist Luke Darcy offered an alternative view of what Brian Taylor described as a "ridiculous" idea.

“I don’t think it’s ridiculous as you would think BT,” Darcy stated.

“I think they would entertain it, if someone potentially is going to go back to Western Australia and Tom McDonald, Sam Weideman step up.”

The constant speculation around Hogan's future in Melbourne could lead, according to Darcy, to the possibility of a trade, especially if Hogan is unwilling to commit past his contract expiration after 2019.

With Fremantle desperate for a key forward, and holding potentially picks 4 and 5 in the national draft, should Lachie Neale be dealt to Brisbane, both picks could form the "Godfather" offer needed to draw Hogan out from Melbourne, and into the Dockers' outfit next season.

If the Demons hold picks 4 and 5 in the draft, they may look to bolster their midfield with a player like Bailey Smith or Sam Walsh, or boost their key position stocks by adding one of the King twins.
