Carlton forward Matthew Wright has signed a one-year contract extension with the Blues and will now remain at the club until at least the end of the 2018 season.
The 27-year-old hasn't missed a game for the Blues since joining from Adelaide at the end of the 2015 season, and was Carlton's leading goalkicker last season with 22.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to sign on for another year with the Club. It’s nice to be able to lock that away now and focus on a really strong back half of the season with my teammates,” Wright told carltonfc.com.au.
“I’ve enjoyed watching our young team grow over the past year or so, and with the commitment of our leadership group there is a belief that we can build sustained success over the next few years. I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Carlton's Head of Football Andrew McKay said the club were thrilled to hang on to Wright, who has become an important member of their playing squad.
“Matthew has been a great addition to our football club since he arrived at the end of 2015. He has a strong leadership presence up forward and contributes significantly to the scoreboard.” McKay told the club's website.
“Off-field he is a highly-respected member of the playing group. Matthew’s professionalism and the manner in which he goes about it sets a great example for our developing list. We’re really pleased to see him continue at the Blues in 2018.”
