Adelaide defender Josh Worrell has signed a new two-year contract extension with the club, recommitting to the Crows until at least the end of 2025.
Worrell has played one game so far in 2023 after suffering a hamstring injury in the pre-season, making his return to the senior side in Round 11's win over Brisbane.
The 22-year-old has now played six AFL games since his debut in Round 13, 2021, drafted by the Crows in 2019 with Pick No.28 in the National Draft.
Speaking to club media, Worrell said that he was looking forward to remaining at the Crows as they continue their development.
“I really enjoy working with all my teammates and coaches and believe we are heading in the right direction,” he said.
“I feel like I've been able to improve my game over the past few years and am now comfortable at AFL level so I'm looking forward to playing more games and having some success.”
Adelaide's list manager Justin Reid was full of praise for the emerging defender, pleased to see him sign on for two additional years.
“At 195cm he is a good size and he has the athleticism to play as a key defender on a range of opponents, as well as provide valuable drive off half-back with his left foot,” Reid said.
“Josh has worked hard on his game since he was drafted and has shown when the opportunity presents, that he is more than capable of playing high-level AFL footy.
“We are very pleased he has recommitted to the Club and will continue the journey with us for the next two years.”
