Melbourne forward Daniel Turner has signed a new deal with the Demons, extending his time at the club till at least the end of 2026.ย
The 21-year-old has shown his versatility, previously drafted as a defender, now Simon Goodwin has shifted him to become a dynamic forward. Turner is known for his aerial craft and his athleticism since arriving at Casey Fields.
The youngster has played 11 AFL games in his short career, eight of those games have been this season - playing most matches for the Demons since Round 7. The young forward is averaging one goal a game this season.
Turner debuted in Round 13 in 2022 and was part of the Casey Demons VFL team who won the 2022 Premiership.
Melbourne AFL List Manager Tim Lamb applauded the young gun for his drive to improve his game.
โWe're really pleased that Daniel has signed on for another two seasons,โ Lamb said.
โHe's really developing his craft and provides us great flexibility, and we're excited to see where he can take his game over the next two years.โ
In 2023, the young forward struggled with injury and to get into the senior side, only managing two games, but 2024 has brought him a more consistent season which has earned him this contract extension.
Turner's short AFL career has seen glimpses of the player he is turning into, making him an exciting player to keep an eye on for seasons to come.
