Fremantle rookie Odin Jones has undergone spinal surgery after a "freak" awkward fall that left him with a fractured vertebra.
Jones will recover in hospital for a couple of weeks following the surgery and will be in the hands of specialists as he begins his recovery. Fremantle executive general manager Joe Brierty said his return to action will be aided by the instruction of specialists.
"[Jones] will spend a couple of weeks in hospital while we await advice on his recovery timeline,โ Brierty said.

The Dockers teenager was taken at Pick 5 in the 2023 Rookie Draft but is yet to appear at AFL level.
His spinal fracture is his second severe injury concern since being listed at the Dockers after he had an extended period recovering from concussion following an incident in the previous pre-season, returning to the WAFL side in May.
A local key forward, Jones would kick five goals from six WAFL league appearances in 2024. The developing tall recently signed a one-year contract extension to remain at the Dockers too, remaining in purple until the end of 2025.
