"I was really, really happy with how the club supported me [with a new contract]. It felt like a second family almost and I was willing just try everything I had to stay here.
"I would love to just stay here for my whole career.
"Obviously, I've got my family back in South Australia and it would be nice to be around them, but I love North Melbourne so I was pretty keen to stay here and get it done as soon as possible.
"It's an awesome feeling."
Dumont has played 26 games over the course of his North Melbourne career, after being drafted with the 30th pick in the 2013 AFL National Draft.
He's started this season in strong form, averaging 21.5 disposals and 4.2 clearances a game.
