We've scattered back through each National Draft of the past decade to uncover every club's bargain pickup.
This list looks at each club's ability to recruit young prospects in the National Draft, whether it be top-end talents or diamonds in the rough.
Each player was selected primarily by their value for pick, with many players being taken outside the first round. Some players have demanded a spot despite an early draft night selection, however these picks have been reserved for the absolute cream of the crop.
This list only includes National Draft selections - excluding Rookie and/or Mini Draft picks, while father-son and Academy selections have also not been considered.ย
10. Hawthorn
James Sicily (pick 56, 2013)
A late pick in the 2013 class, James Sicily has shown exceptional value for pick since earning a routine spot in Hawthorn's back six.
His recent 2022 year was his best to date; ranking first in the AFL for marks and rebound 50s, winning Hawthorn's best & fairest and being arguably robbed from his first All-Australian team.
Hawks senior coach Sam Mitchell has expressed great faith and pride in Sicily as an emerging leader, but as Hawthorn also seek to rebuild under their popular, yet inexperienced, coach, Sicily is another player who will be challenged by the possibility of facing his prime years in a losing side.
Honourable mention/s: Dylan Moore, pick 67 (2017), Mitchell Lewis, pick 76 (2016)
