We've scattered back through each National Draft of the past decade to uncover every club's bargain pickup.

This list looks at each club's ability to recruit young prospects in the National Draft, whether it be top-end talents or diamonds in the rough.

Each player was selected primarily by their value for pick, with many players being taken outside the first round. Some players have demanded a spot despite an early draft night selection, however these picks have been reserved for the absolute cream of the crop.

This list only includes National Draft selections - excluding Rookie and/or Mini Draft picks, while father-son and Academy selections have also not been considered.ย

King was the obvious selection with the Saints' first pick of the 2018 draft, but he has nonetheless shown signs of being a generational talent and the premier key forward of the future.

Challenged by being the exclusive focal point of a forward line, King has impressed the competition by slotting 52 goals in 2022, ninth most in the AFL, and has been St Kilda's leading goalkicker over the past two years at just 21 and 22 years old.

There is, however, glaring ambiguity about St Kilda entering the 2023 season, and part of the scepticism involves King's 2022 set-shot goal-kicking woes.

Saints fans will be eager to observe his progression next year and beyond under new coach Ross Lyon.
