We've scattered back through each National Draft of the past decade to uncover every club's bargain pickup.
This list looks at each club's ability to recruit young prospects in the National Draft, whether it be top-end talents or diamonds in the rough.
Each player was selected primarily by their value for pick, with many players being taken outside the first round. Some players have demanded a spot despite an early draft night selection, however these picks have been reserved for the absolute cream of the crop.
This list only includes National Draft selections - excluding Rookie and/or Mini Draft picks, while father-son and Academy selections have also not been considered.ย
6. Fremantle
Luke Ryan (pick 66, 2016)
Ryan has been a general in Fremantle's defence for a half-decade now, ranking among the top three intercepters and rebounders in multiple seasons.
His 2020 year was his best to date, earning an All-Australian blazer and winning the Dockers' best & fairest.
He has shown the ability to dominate important games, racking up 32 disposals (25 kicks) and 15 marks in a round 21 defeat of the Bulldogs in 2022 and collecting 31 touches and seven marks in Fremantle's famous elimination final victory, also against the Dogs in 2022.
Dockers fans will hope Ryan can maintain this big game form as their side looks to impact future finals series, but at pick 66, he has already shown incredible value for the selection.
Honourable mention/s: Sean Darcy, pick 38 (2016), Caleb Serong, pick 8 (2019)
