We've scattered back through each National Draft of the past decade to uncover every club's bargain pickup.
This list looks at each club's ability to recruit young prospects in the National Draft, whether it be top-end talents or diamonds in the rough.
Each player was selected primarily by their value for pick, with many players being taken outside the first round. Some players have demanded a spot despite an early draft night selection, however these picks have been reserved for the absolute cream of the crop.
This list only includes National Draft selections - excluding Rookie and/or Mini Draft picks, while father-son and Academy selections have also not been considered.ย
9. Greater Western Sydney
Sam Taylor (pick 28, 2017)
After managing just 34 games in his first three years, Taylor has lately displayed two terrific back-to-back seasons and climbed the ranks as an intercept defender; ranking fourth for intercepts in 2021 and first in 2022.
He earned his first All-Australian selection in 2022 while winning his clubs' best & fairest and is now touted as one of the top key defenders in the competition.
His persistence at the Giants may be tested in the next few years as the club look to rebuild their success, but Taylor should see no shortage of opportunity at full-back for GWS entering 2023.
Honourable mention/s: Harrison Himmelberg, pick 16 (2015)
