5 votes | Charlie Constable
After a stellar debut in Geelong’s round one victory, Constable was again prolific in the Cats’ dismantling of Melbourne on Saturday night.
In just his second game of AFL, the classy 19-year-old accumulated 31 disposals to trail only Patrick Dangerfield as Geelong’s leading possession-getter.
Continuing where he left off from round one, Constable’s pressure acts were a feature laying another four tackles against the Demons.
Despite Geelong’s bottomless midfield depth, Constable has found a way to carve out a sizeable role in the Cats’ game plan and found himself as the round two NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.
4 votes | Connor Rozee
After he was stiff to miss out on ROTY votes in round one, Rozee was impossible to ignore in the Power’s win over Carlton in round two.
In soaking wet conditions at Adelaide Oval that made clean footy near impossible, 2018’s No.5 draft pick shone with his lead-up marking resulting in two goals in less than a minute.
In addition to two goals and 18 disposals, the first-year swingman applied plenty of forward pressure, laying three tackles to help Port Adelaide’s cause.
3 votes | Zak Butters
An electric debut already had Butters’ name on the lips of AFL fans after round one and the sensational midfielder’s encore performance did nothing to temper the hype around the Power’s prized draftee.
The only thing louder than the haircut Butters is sporting – his goal celebrations, which were again on after he kicked his first goal at Adelaide Oval.
As well as impacting the scoreboard, last year’s No.12 NAB AFL Draft selection amassed 22 disposals in his side's second consecutive victory.
2 votes | Willem Drew
Just as Port’s host of impressive first-game players have been a talking point around the AFL, impressive performances in round two see the Power youngsters dominating ROTY votes.
While a case could be made for Drew being unlucky to miss out in round one, tallying 21 disposals and laying five tackles on debut, the third-year midfielder couldn’t be denied in round two.
Drew caught the eye with his unmissable crimson lid, running through the Power midfield racking up 24 touches while laying another five crunching tackles.
1 vote | Sam Walsh
Well held until half time, Walsh displayed the class after the break that had him pinned as the runaway favourite for the 2019 NAB Rising Star award.
Despite what felt like a relatively quiet outing, the No.1 overall selection still finished with another 25 disposals in a valiant effort by the Blues away from home.
Walsh now averages 24.5 disposals in his first two rounds of professional football, placing him in the top-60 in the competition.
