BACKLINE

Christian Salem

The Demons flanker managed to attract the pill on 30 occasions against the Saints and was a formidable option of translating defence into attack.

One of many Melbourne players that shined in Spud's game, taking 10 marks and accumulating over 600 metres gained for the day.

Dougal Howard

The Saints key-defender was rock solid albeit in a loss for his side.

29 disposals, eight marks and a stunning 769 metres gained saw Howard step up in a match dedicated to one of St Kilda's greatest defenders in Danny Frawley.

While it wasn't the Saints' night, Howard can keep his head up high.

Dan Houston

The Power were dominant on Saturday, trouncing the Bombers in front of an ecstatic home crowd by nine goals.

Houston offered plenty of run and carry for Ken Hinkley, blitzing past the boys in the red sash on his way to collecting 25 touches, four tackles and 657 metres gained.

Braeden Campbell

A glamourous second match in the AFL saw Campbell lead as one of Sydney's best in a vital win over Adelaide to take their tally to 2-0 for the season.

An elite user of the ball, Campbell amassed 25 touches for the day that produced a game-high 708 metres gained and is firmed to be a worthy successor to Jake Lloyd.

Darcy Moore

The Magpies star defender backed up his dominant Round 1 outing with a performance as equally impressive against the Blues, whilst going home with the four points this week.

Despite a competitive tussle with Carlton forward Harry McKay, Moore was able to impact almost every contest as the Blues looked to attack, amassing a staggering 18 intercept possessions for his efforts.

Jack Crisp

Started the game off half-back and excelled when moved into the midfield, but we'll keep the pacey Magpie in our defence for his stellar outing against the Blues.

36 touches, seven marks and almost 800 metres gained saw Crisp thrive in his dual role between midfield and defence.

CENTRE

Zak Butters

If he wasn't already a star of the game he is now.

Butters' first-half performance was that of an A-grade talent, moving swiftly between both arcs and impacting the scoreboard when called upon.

36 touches, six tackles and 14 contested possessions has Butters with a firm hand on the three votes for Round 2.

Jack Macrae

At his ball-magnet best once again, Macrae stunned an undermanned Eagles engine room in collecting 41 disposals, 15 of which were contested.

The Bulldogs ran home seven-point victors at Marvel Stadium as the star-studded Bulldogs midfield showed great signs of cohesion with Macrae at the wheel.

Noah Anderson

In the absence of his best friend Matt Rowell, Anderson flexed his muscles as the spotlight was turned to the former No.2 pick.

A stunning 35 disposals, nine marks, 13 contested possessions and 119 SuperCoach points had Anderson fighting for best-on-ground honours in the Suns' impressive win over the Kangaroos at home.

FORWARD LINE

Marcus Bontempelli

Arguably the player of the round. The Bulldogs skipper led by example and was the difference maker between the Dogs and Eagles.

In what was a heated battle in the heart of the ground, Bontempelli stole the show on his way to collecting 30 touches and three goals.

Taylor Walker

The big Texan is back.

Leading the Coleman Medal race after the opening two rounds with a bag of six goals against the Swans in what was a stunning performance from the former captain.

His pressure and eye for goal were a deadly combination on Saturday, but unfortunately was unable to come away with the four points.

Christian Petracca

The Demons' bull monstered his way to 30 touches for the night, but will be ruing his missed chances after booting 0.3.

Nevertheless, his impact in the middle and involvement when moving forward had St Kilda's defenders with their backs to the wall all night.

Errol Gulden

Hard to think of a more impressive opening two matches of an AFL career.

Another star from the Swans' Academy, Gulden might just be the pick of the bunch should his two matches be a sign of what's in store for his future.

22 touches, seven marks and a goal has Gulden back in the best and in line for six Brownlow votes from his first two games.

Mitch Georgiades

A late inclusion into Port's 22, Georgiades has now mounted pressure on fellow forward Todd Marshall after booting four goals against the Bombers and cementing his place in Ken Hinkley's side for another week.

Georgiades and Charlie Dixon were a dominant duo on Saturday, with the former just edging out his teammate for a place in our side.

Isaac Heeney

The third Swans Academy graduate to make our Team of the Round this week.

Heeney booted three goals from his 14 possessions and was a constant threat on goal for Sydney as the Crows had little to answer in return.

With Buddy's return and the immediate impact Logan McDonald is having, this Swans forward line is looking scary and Heeney looks to be thriving in it.

FOLLOWERS

Brodie Grundy

A great way to return serve following a critical week after Round 1.

The Magpies star was at his best once again against the Blues, collecting 16 touches and amassing a staggering 51 hitouts for the game.

Was able to level the contest against Marc Pittonet early before running the Blues ruck off his legs and taking advantage late in the game to ice the win.

Clayton Oliver

21 contested possessions from his 37 touches saw Clayton Oliver take out the best-on-ground honours in Spud's game.

Backed up his dominant outing against the Dockers last week and could be an early leader in the Brownlow Medal chase.

Andrew Brayshaw

A stunning display to hand the Giants their second loss of the season.

Brayshaw led the way for the Purple Haze with two goals and 32 disposals and perhaps just edged out teammate David Mundy for a place in our midfield.

A strong start to the year, Brayshaw is on his way to eclipsing captain Nat Fyfe as the Dockers' star onballer.

INTERCHANCE

Taylor Adams

Arguably best-on-ground in Thursday's win over Carlton but just misses out on a starting role after a strong weekend league-wide.

A strong four-quarter performance saw Adams bounce back after a lacklustre outing against the Bulldogs in Round 1, collecting 29 touches and laying seven tackles while also booting one major.

Jarrod Witts

A solid performance on the Gold Coast on Saturday night, Witts had the better of Todd Goldstein in the ruck and was one of the Suns' best in the 59-point win.

33 hitouts and 19 disposals will see the Suns tall in contention for votes come the Brownlow count.

Joel Selwood

A gritty win for the Cats at home on Friday night, with Geelong one-point victors over the Lions thanks to their skipper.

Selwood led from the front and was the x-factor in getting his side over the line, booting two goals and amassing 27 disposals - 17 of which were contested.

Dustin Martin

The star of the show once again, Dusty had another day out this weekend in his side's 29-poiny win over Hawthorn.

28 touches, seven marks and a goal had Dusty in the Tigers' best one again, with honourable mentions to Dion Prestia, Jayden Short and Trent Cotchin.
